APRIL 2008 CHALLENGE STORY

How do you account for that?

RABB HOME
OVER DINNER

Mac began the dinner conversation, wondering if she'd be able to lead the conversation to the news that she wanted to share with Harm without just blurting it out. "I heard that you and Bud are being touted as the 'dream team' for getting the goods on Chief Williams for selling off military "surplus items" that weren't so surplus."
"It wasn't hard to set him up once Bud figured out Williams' computer access code."

"You know what I was thinking that we should do tonight?"

"You mean to celebrate my inventive plan that got a crooked Naval Chief sent to prison?"

"Yes, to celebrate. I was thinking that we should should turn in after dinner."

"After dinner, go to bed to celebrate? I had the same idea," Harm says with a wiggle of his eyebrow, suggesting that he doesn't want to sleep. "Have you noticed that we're beginning to think a lot alike?"

"That's something, isn't it?" In a sudden burst of stragetic genius, Mac sees a way to steer the conversation to get out her news. "How do you account for that?"

"Er...A rip in the time/space continuum," Harm replies. The odd look on Mac's face has him apologizing. "I'm sorry. It just slipped out. I've spent a lot of time with Bud on the Williams' case. He was telling me a lot of his UFO theories while we were waiting for Williams to take the bait the other night. How would you account for us being in sinc?"

"It's silly."

"I doubt that it's any more ridiculous than a space analogy."

"It's just ... I thought maybe I'd tuned into your thought patterns now that I'm carrying your baby."
