Just call her part 2 HBX Challenge February 2008

Sequel to the story Just call her

I don't own them, I'll just use them for this story.

Mac's apartment

Harm was standing outside Mac's apartment, ready to knock on the door. He had been so happy when he came home, and found a message from her waiting.

“Hey Harm, it's Mac. I would love to meet, and talk. Just let me know when you're back.”

That message had left a smile on his face, but when he heard the end of the message he thought his smile would reach around his head.

“And Harm, I miss you too.”

He had to play the message two more times. He had been so scared that she had given up on him, and gone on with her life. She missed him too, that had to mean that he still had a chance.

Now he was standing outside her door, ten minutes early, and he was nervous as hell. They had agreed to meet at seven o'clock, to go to the restaurant. Well, agreed and agreed. He had left a message on her machine last night.

“Hey Mac, I'm back in town. Want to go out to dinner tomorrow? I'll come by your place at seven. Let me know if the time doesn't fit in you schedule, but I hope it does. I'm looking forward to spend time with you. Bye.”

She had not called him to say that it was a bad time for her, so he assumed that she would be ready to go.

He took a deep breath, and knocked on the door. It took a while before he heard the door open.
Mac was wearing a towel, and her hair was wet.

“Sorry Harm, I'm running late. Come in, and sit down.” She stepped aside, and waived her hand towards the couch.

“No problem Mac, we don't have a reservation until eight.” He stepped inside, and took a close look at her. She was without make-up, her hair was dripping, and she looked really hot in her towel.
He smiled at her. “You look good Mac.”

She laughed. “Then maybe I'll just go to the restaurant like this.”

He looked her up and down. “I wouldn't mind, but you'll be beating men off with sticks all evening.” He pointed to the very short towel. “I don't want more competition than necessary.”

“In that case, maybe I'll wear something else.” She smiled and pointed to the bedroom door. “I'll be right back.”

Harm watched her walk away. “That's probably best.” He said under his breath.” That towel didn't leave anything to the imagination.

Later that evening
After dinner

Dinner had gone smoothly, the conversation had been light, and they had not touched any difficult subjects. When they came back to Mac's place, she asked him to come inside.

“Do you want anything to drink?” She asked when they came inside.

“No I'm fine.” He sat down on her couch. “Why don't we sit down and talk.” He patted the space beside him on the couch.

“That's probably wise.” She sat down. “I'm glad you called me back Harm, but I'm curious as to what changed your mind.”

Harm stared at the floor hoping to find a good way to explain, then he looked up and met her eyes. “I had a talk with Webb.”

“Oh.” She looked away. “And what did he say?”

“I'm not involved with Mac.”

She looked up, and met his eyes again. “Well, that's the truth. He's not involved with Mac.”

“Why?” Harm decided to be brave. He knew that question could backfire on him. “You two seemed pretty cozy.”

“He was hurt Harm, and he's a friend. He might have wanted more from me than friendship, but I couldn't be anything else than his friend.” She rose to her feet, and walked away from him.

“Why?” He asked to her back. He focused on her legs. Those were great legs, he had always loved her legs. His eyes drifted upwards to where her legs ended, and her dress begun. That was a great dress, it complimented all the right places. He focused on her face when she turned around, she had such a beautiful face. He loved her eyes, and he loved her mouth.

“You know why.”

“Are you using my lines now?” He rose as well.

“We can both play this game.” Her voice was soft.

“I was being a jerk.” He stated the obvious.

“Yes.” Her voice was still soft, and he wondered why she was not angry with him.

“You were being a jerk too.” He decided to be brave again.

“Yes.”

“What if we stop being jerks, and stop playing games?” He stepped closer to her.

“That could work.” She stepped closer to him.

The next morning
Mac's apartment

Harm woke up by the smell of coffee. He didn't open his eyes, he just changed position in bed and stretched. DUNK!

“Damn it.” He was sprawled on the floor.

Mac came in the door to the bedroom. “Harm what...” Then she saw him on the floor, and started to laugh. “Are you okay?” She got out between waves of laughter.

“I'm glad that my accident is amusing.” He tried to look hurt, and started to get up.

“I'm sorry.” Mac said, but continued to laugh.

Harm got back in bed, and sat up against some pillows. “Is that my coffee?” He pointed to the night stand.

“Yes, and I'm making breakfast.” She crawled in to bed, and gave him a morning kiss. “Good morning.”

“Good morning.” He kissed her again.

She gave him the coffee, and started to move out of bed.

“Where are you going.” He placed the coffee on the table, and reached out for her. “I think you should stay right here.”

She crawled closer to him, and relaxed in to his arms. “I can do that.” She hugged him close.

“I can do this forever.” He kissed her head.

“I can do that too.” She kissed his mouth, and he flipped her on her back, so he was on top.

He stopped the kissing. “I think it's my turn to be on top.” He kissed her again. “We have to play fair, you know.”

She laughed, and kissed him again.
