Worth the Change

Somewhere in Georgetown
"Is
this seat taken handsome?" Harm looked up to see Mac standing
there with a wide smile.
"Hey, no, have a seat. I was
beginning to worry about you. Did your appointment show up?"
With
a snort of disdain Mac answered, " Yeah, about 20 minutes ago.
Not only was he an hour late, with no phone call, he brought his
girlfriend along for the ride."
Harms eyebrows shot up
to his hairline, " His girlfriend? He's claiming he didn’t
commit adultery, but he comes to a meeting with his wife's attorney
with his girlfriend?"
Mac unbuttoned her suit jacket and
laid it over her chair. " I guess we could try to charge him
with being an idiot on top of the adultery." Turning to Harm she
added," I don’t want to talk about work tonight. I want to
relax and enjoy the evening."
A young woman
approached the couple, " What can I get for you this evening?"
Harm placed his order and sat amused as he listened to Macs
extensive list of culinary desires. Barely containing his laughter he
said," You know, there was a time when you hated it here."
Mac took a sip of her water before replying, " Yeah,
well, nothing stays the same."
Leaning over Harm placed
a kiss to the corner of Mac's lips, " Tell me about it." He
then moved his hand to the slightly rounded baby bump on her middle.
" I'm glad your here." He said, adding another kiss, this
one to her lips.
Mac smiled at that," I just figured
since this kid is going to be half you and half me, I should indulge
the half of you side once in a while. A trip to the Bean Sprout for
dinner isn’t going to kill me and I really enjoy the effects
tofu seems to have on your libido, Mr. Rabb."
Deep
inside his mother, Jacob Lucas Rabb could hear the hearty laughter
shared by both of his parents. Safe in the knowledge that he was
loved.
