HBX Challenge October

Morning entertainment
Harm and Mac were
enjoying a quiet breakfast when suddenly the door to Harm's apartment
was opened and a very angry teenage girl came barging in. The door
was shut with a large bang and Mattie focused on Harm.
“Good
morning Mattie, what's up?” Harm focused on the angry teenager,
her arms crossed in front of her chest, glaring at him.
“You
told Derek that I would forgive him?” Mattie more or less
yelled.
“I...”
His reply was cut short.
“How could you? Why did you even talk to him, you don't like
him?” Mattie spat out.
Harm stood. “He came to
talk to me yesterday and I felt sorry for him, so I might have said
something about you forgiving him...”
“I can't
believe you did that! What's wrong with you?” Mattie turned
around and went straight out the door, leaving it wide open.
Harm
started counting. “One, two, three...”
Mattie
came back. “You have to fix this.”
“But...”
“Are you trying to throw me into his arms, Harm? Is
that really what you want?” Mattie yelled.
“I...”
Mattie continued without even acknowledging his attempt to
explain. “You hate the guy. You said that he would only be
trouble and that I should stay far away from him.”
“Well,
I might have changed my opinion of him and if you love him it doesn't
matter what I want.” Harm said.
“Love him? Have
you completely lost your mind?” Mattie turned around while
mumbling something about men being jerks and then she left the
apartment again, this time slamming the door shut behind her.
Harm
shrugged his shoulders and sat back down. He continued to eat his
breakfast while reading the newspaper until he noticed Mac studying
him. “What?”
“Wow, breakfast at my place
not this entertaining.” She stole a grape from his plate.
“Shouldn't you go after her?”
Harm smiled. “Nope,
she'll cool down eventually.”
Mac stole another grape
from him. “What did the guy do?”
“What?”
Harm looked confused.
“This Derek guy, what did he do?”
“He started a fight with some other guy who was talking
to Mattie at school. He was jealous and thought that a fist fight was
the way to deal with it.” Harm explained.
“Aha!”
Mac said triumphantly.
Harm gave her a innocents look.
“What?”
“That's why you think she should
forgive him, because you think it's okay to act like a jerk when you
are jealous.” Mac stole another grape from him. “These
are good.” She said before putting it into her mouth.
“I
do not act like I jerk when I'm jealous.” He argued. “In
fact I don't get jealous.”
Mac laughed softly. “Yeah,
that's right, you never act like a jerk or get jealous.”
Harm
put the paper down. “Give me one example.” He
challenged.
Mac sat up straighter and gave him a knowing
glare. “Paraguay.”
Harm shook his head. “I
was not jealous when we were in Paraguay.”
“You
were mean to me and you accused me of doing more than just sleeping
next to Webb.” Mac leaned back in her chair and crossed her
arms across her chest. “You were a jerk.”
“You
kissed him.” Harm said it as if it should mean anything.
“So?
I thought he was dying. And by the way Rabb, it wasn't like you and I
had any relationship other than being partners and friends, it
shouldn't have mattered to you who I kissed.” She argued.
Harm
was about to continue with something that he knew would lead to a big
argument, but swallowed it before letting it slip. Instead he stood
and walked around the table. “I'm sorry.” He smiled
flirtingly and reached for one of her hands. “We are more than
friends and partners now, that's what matters.”
“You
think that smile can get you out of everything.” She tried to
look stern, but had problems avoiding the smile that threatened to
appear.
“It's working, isn't it?” He bent down
and put his face close to hers.
She smiled. “Yeah, it
does.”
He kissed her lightly. “I knew it.”
She put her free arm around his neck. “But I wouldn't
attack any men that I'm talking too, it might end up with me
attacking you.” She threatened.
Harm smiled widely.
“That could actually be fun.” He kissed her again, this
time he deepened the kiss and dragged her to a standing position.
Mac put both her arms around his neck and pulled him closer.
Harm had just put his hands under her shirt when the door opened and
he reluctantly ended the kiss.
He released Mac and turned to
the door. “Hey Mattie.”
“I can come back.”
Mattie made a move to walk away.
“No, don't go.”
Mac kissed Harm lightly. “You two talk, I'm going to take a
shower.”
Mattie nodded. “Okay.”
Harm
watched Mac leave before focusing on Mattie. “Let me tell you
something about men acting like jerks when they are jealous.”
Mattie hesitated. “Okay...”
Harm nodded.
“I think Derek really likes you and that's why he did what he
did. It was wrong and he should have told you how he felt instead of
acting like a Neanderthal, but I think he really wanted you to know
how he felt and he went abut it the wrong way.”
“Why
are men so stupid? Why can't you guys just keep the fists down and
talk instead?” Mattie questioned.
Harm chuckled. “I
don't have the answer for that, but talk to Derek, I'm sure he'll
explain it.”
“Okay, I'll do that.” Mattie's
face broke into a smile all of a sudden. “How many times have
you acted like a jerk because you were jealous?”
Harm
shrugged and looked away. “I don't do that.”
Mattie
laughed. “I better ask Mac about it.”
“No!”
Harm got a panicked look on his face. “Don't do that.”
Mattie laughed harder. “What do you got to hide?”
Harm found twenty dollars from his pocket. “I'll give
you these if you don't ask Mac about it.”
Mattie eyed
the money and took it. “Okay, I wont ask.”
Harm
looked relieved. “Now, how about some breakfast?”
“No
thanks, I'm going shopping with Jennifer.” Mattie waved her
hand. “See you later.”
“You gave her money
so that she wouldn't ask me?”
Harm whipped around and
came face to face with a towel clad Mac, her hair was wet and she
smelled like apples. Harm smiled. “Are you going to attack me
now, because I'm in the mood for some fun?”
Mac rolled
her eyes. “Answer the question.”
“I might
have given her money, but I wont admit to anything.” Harm
touched her cheek and bent down to kiss her. “How about we
forget about everything else and focus on us.” He suggested.
Mac bit his lower lip. “I could be persuaded to loose
the towel.”
“How about I help you with that.”
He lifted her into his arms. “I think we should spend the day
in bed.” He walked up to the bedroom and put her down on the
bed, before crawling on top of her. “Like this.”
Mac
pulled him close. “I think I'd like that.” She kissed him
deeply and flipped him over. “But don't think that you'll get
to be on top.”
Harm nodded. “How about we take
turns?”
“We can do that.” Mac agreed. “I
love you Harm.”
“I love you too Mac.” Harm
pulled her down for a deep, long kiss.
