HBX Challenge 2006: Amended March 7th 2006
1) Each month, I will give you a piece of dialogue taken from a JAG episode. The challenge will be for you to write a short story, incorporating the given dialogue. Although I will identify the episode and the speakers, you may change the context and the speakers if you wish. Feel free to change the personal pronouns (I, me, she, he, her, him, etc.)
2) You may use the lines in different parts of your story. They don’t have to follow in the original sequence, or be lumped together.
3) Please label all stories with the following: HBX Challenge (appropriate month)2006, and give your stories a title and the usual disclaimers. If you don’t finish your story within the given month, don’t worry. Post it when you have finished, and I will archive it with the others from that month no matter how late it is.
4) At any time, you may choose to do any month’s challenge, as long as you label it for the specific month.
*Please don’t feel confined by the episode storyline.*
If I miss a story accidentally, please let me know.
I
will collect the stories after they have been posted at the HBX, and
upload them on a special page at the HBX Archive website, but I won’t
delete them from the board. The original posting and any comments
will be left on the board until they archive out as usual.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the lines inspire you to write a full length fanfic outside of the challenge, please feel free to do so. It just won’t be part of the challenge.
Writers are free, of course, to post their challenge stories on other fanfic boards as well as the HBX.
NB: I have created this challenge to provide another opportunity to encourage new and existing writers. I want to facilitate the writing of new stories, not discourage writers, so if you feel I can improve on the rules, or there is any problem with the lines I’ve chosen, please let me know.
The challenge is not meant to replace or dilute Pixie’s challenge. I’m hoping that along with Pixie’s challenge, this challenge will enrich the writing environment of JAG fanfic.
Good luck and happy writing everyone! Cece
